Warriors star point guard Stephen Curry limped off the floor midway through the second quarter of a preseason win over the Portland Trail Blazers after hurting his surgically repaired right ankle Friday night.

With 6 minutes, 9 seconds left in the second quarter, Curry’s right ankle was hit by another player during a loose ball scrum, and he favored the ankle as left the court.

“He’s fine,” coach Mark Jackson said after the Warriors’ 101-97 victory. “He wanted to go back in the game.”

Jackson refused, and Curry went to the locker room.

Curry, who missed 40 games last season because of problems with the ankle, didn’t return for what the team called “precautionary reasons.”
