Milicic ponders basketball fratricide

For many, Darko Milicic will be known as the guy picked between LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony in the 2003 NBA Draft.

But unlike James and Anthony, the 7-footer never became a player who could lay down the law on the court.

But, now that he’s trying to hang on with the Boston Celtics, it doesn’t mean he can’t break the law.

Still, we’re hoping his comments were meant to be taken in the basketball sense.

“I’m done trying to prove I’m the No. 2 pick and that (expletive) stuff,” he told A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE.com. “This year, it’s all about Celtics, to show that I am a team player….I’ll do whatever it takes, whatever I need to do to help this team. So now, if I have to go kill someone on the court, I’ll kill someone on the court.”

Milicic, who has played for six teams in his career, most recently played with Minnesota. In the 2010-2011 season he averaged 8.8 rebounds and 5.2 rebounds in 69 starts. Last year he was limited by injuries and played just 29 games and averaged 4.6 points and 3.3 rebounds
