Davis Rebuffs Doctors’ Order to Wear Sling

Orlando Magic power forward Glen Davis said he’s doing a better job lately of keeping his spirits up after he learned the left shoulder sprain he suffered last week won’t require surgery.
He wasn’t wearing a sling Sunday, even though doctors want him to do so. He watched the game away from the Magic’s bench because team officials didn’t want to take the risk of players accidently colliding with Davis as they chased a loose ball.
Davis will attempt to strengthen the muscles around his shoulder, and he might need a month or more before he plays in a game again. Davis wouldn’t specify his timetable for coming back, but he said he’s been assured the shoulder won’t pop out of the socket again if he rehabs well.
“I have my own timetable, and it’s when Glen feels good enough to play,” Davis said.
