Del Negro Wants Lakers/Clippers ‘Rivalry’
Don’t talk to the Clippers about their rivalry with the Lakers.
It doesn’t exist as far as they are concerned.
And until they do something about it – like, say, make long playoff runs and overtake the Lakers in the standings consistently – it’s just a bunch of talk.
“We’re trying to make it a rivalry. I don’t think it’s a rivalry right now, but we have to play well consistently and we have to win basketball games to make it a rivalry,” Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro said. “The Lakers’ success speaks for itself and we’re trying to start something here and it’s the beginning of the process for us and a big test for us, no question.”
But everything needs a beginning point, and clearly the Clippers are thinking this year is it.
