Cousins won’t play after suspension lifted

Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins is not with the team for its game tonight against the Portland Trail Blazers, according to The Sacramento Bee.
Cousins was suspended indefinitely by the team after a verbal altercation with coach Keith Smart at halftime of Friday’s game at the Los Angeles Clippers, but the suspension was lifted on Monday and Cousins subsequently practiced with the team. But according to The Bee’s Jason Jones, the decision to lift the suspension did necessarily mean that Cousins would return to the playing floor just yet.
As was reported by USA TODAY on Monday, Cousins used extensive profanity during the verbal altercation and later changed agents in what was seen by some as a sign that he wanted to be traded. And while he has since denied that was the case, that possibility – and this situation – won’t be going away anytime soon.
