MIAMI — Chicago Bulls forward Luol Deng didn’t make the trip to Miami for Game 2 against the Heat on Wednesday, and Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich remains a game-time decision for the second game of the series.
Deng remained in Chicago, battling an illness and complications from a spinal tap to test for viral meningitis. The test was negative, but Deng has been in and out of the hospital since May 1.
Hinrich underwent treatment and did rehab on his severely bruised left calf.
“There was some improvement yesterday,” Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said at Chicago’s morning shootaround on Wednesday.
Will Hinrich play in Game 2? “We’ll see,” Thibodeau replied.
On Tuesday, Hinrich, who has missed Chicago’s past four games, didn’t sound like a player ready to suit up for Game 2.
“The swelling is looking better. The coloring is looking better. But as far as functioning and moving, I’m still having lots of trouble – just getting treatment and go from there,” he said.
Hinrich also said he was frustrated that he hasn’t been able to play.
