Deron Williams Praises Mavs Fans, Arena

The Mavericks have always been the biggest threat to land Deron Williams and end the Nets’ dream of bringing a championship contender to Brooklyn. Monday, the free-agent-to-be added fuel to that possibility while showering love on Mark Cuban’s palace.

“Fans are great (at American Airways Center). It’s always good when arenas have a lot of energy,” Williams said a day before the Nets play in his hometown for the only time this season. “Ours (in Newark) doesn’t have too much energy.”

Whether it was intended or not, Williams gave indications he is amenable — and perhaps leaning— to signing with the Mavs when he becomes a free agent.

“I always like playing (in Dallas),” Williams said. “It’s my favorite arena — one of my favorite arenas to play in, probably my favorite to play in.“I just enjoy playing here — enjoy playing in front of my friends, family. It’s always good for them to get the chance to come and see me play.”
