Jonny Flynn and Terrence Williams understandthe difficulty of their quest and the possibility that their Detroit Pistons tryouts might benefit them more as auditions for other teams, not the one for which they are toiling in training camp.

The Pistons have 15 players signed to guaranteed contracts, enough to fill a roster, and the truth is that Flynn and Williams, who were teammates briefly last year, will have a difficult time convincing the team to give up on one of those players, assuming no trades or injuries.

Still, the two 2009 draft lottery picks who have become NBA nomads since then looked at the Pistons, with their thin backcourt, and saw opportunity.
