Draft Combine: Proving They Belong

Posted By Yannis Koutroupis On June 10, 2012 @ 12:00 pm In All,NBA Draft | No Comments

Xavier’s Tu Hollow, Georgetown’s Henry Sims and Purdue’s Robbie Hummel were amongst the most productive seniors in the country this year. Now they’re trying to prove to NBA teams that they’re worthy of a draft pick. That quest took them to the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago, where they all had a chance to answer questions about their game and showcase their abilities.

Holloway More Than A Scoring Point Guard

During Holloway’s time at Xavier the opposition was most concerned with his scoring ability. He averaged five assists his final two years, but it was with his individual offense that he really hurt teams with. That’s created the belief that he’s a scoring point guard, which Holloway doesn’t necessarily agree with.

Sims’ Rise Surprises Even Him

This past year has contained some big changes for Sims. He went from being a seldom-used reserve to a major part of the rotation at Georgetown. Now he’s firmly on the draft radar, being looked at as one of the most versatile big men in the class. It’s Sims’ versatility, combined with his prototypical size for a center, that has his stock on the rise.

Hummel Had His Doubts

Just one torn ACL is tough to recover from. Two consecutive ACL tears? Nearly impossible to come back from, except in the case of Hummel. He kept his faith, worked hard and got back to a high level this past season. There were days he didn’t think he was going to be able to do it, but now he’s nearly back to where he was before his stretch of bad luck.
