Drafting Robinson Helps Bobcats, Thomas?

Though they did not win the lottery in terms of getting the No. 1 pick, they did get the No. 2 spot, which also was fortuitous. If Charlotte drafts Kansas forward Thomas Robinson with that pick, it will get a player ready for solid NBA basketball right from the time he arrives in camp.

Last year, the Bobcats suffered through a career-worst effort from Tyrus Thomas (which followed his best season, ironically). With better coaching I’d expect Thomas to return to solid, if not spectacular, form. Thomas struggles to stay focused in poor team cultures. Adding Robinson means serious competition for him, but it also means the Bobcats can have a top-three big-man rotation with Thomas and Robinson plus Bismack Biyombo.
