Dwight Howard hires free throw guru
Orlando Magic superstar center Dwight Howard has hired a free throw guru who once worked with Shaquille O’Neal.
The Orlando Sentinel reported that Howard has hired Ed Palubinskas, who also has worked with Magic forward Brandon Bass and is the all-time free throw percentage leader at LSU.
After the season, Howard said he would hire a shooting coach to help him with his free throws. The report said he spoke with a handful of candidates before deciding on Palubinskas, who has been trying to work with Howard for more than a year.
In an email to the newspaper in 2010, Palubinskas wrote, “I will completely change his numbers in less than one week and you won’t recognize him.”
Howard’s career free throw percentage is .598. He averaged 11.7 foul shots per game last season, three more than any other player.
