Dwyane Wade kicked Ramon Sessions in the groin, and the NBA gave a delayed reaction.

The Miami Heat guard was suspended one game for a play Wednesday night against the Charlotte Bobcats guard that was not whistled by referees, the NBA announced Thursday. He will serve the suspension Dec. 28, when the Heat play at the Detroit Pistons.

Sessions took umbrage after the game, but Wade was not even asked to address the contact.

“I thought he did it on purpose, and it wasn’t called,” Sessions said after Miami’s 105-92 win.

Depending on your view, the kick move was reflexive or vicious. Wade mostly is known for taking hard fouls, not dishing them out. But his left leg launched in an unusual motion into Sessions’ groin. USA TODAY Sports’ Chris Strauss offered a take:

Riiiiiiiiiiiiight. I know that every time I lose my balance, I swing my left leg upward like the Karate Kid to compensate. Try it. Stand on your right foot and lean to your right until you start to fall. Doesn’t your other leg kick as if your Sebastian Janikowski attempting a 70-yard field goal? Mine does every time!

Wade scored eight of his game-high 29 points after the kick, which came with about 8 minutes, 12 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.
