East Carolina player gets ejected for punch

A college basketball game on Saturday that was won on a last-second three-pointer at the buzzer didn’t even come close to being the highlight of the game.

East Carolina’s Shamarr Bowden was ejected for deliberately punching UTEP’s Konner Tucker, who was completely blindsided by the first punch and too shaken up to react to the second punch. UTEP went on to win 68-67 on McKenzie Moore’s jumper as time expired.

While East Carolina takes time to decide what Bowden’s sure-to-be-severe punishment will be, it’s important to note that Bowden did the right thing…after the game by apologizing.

But instead of apologizing to Tucker to his face, Bowden thought tweeting him an apology note would make due. Real genuine.

Bowden’s gem of a tweet read:

“@ktuck_25 didn’t get to speak to you after the game but I want to apologize to you and your team. That’s not who I am I am bigger than that and it was out of character of me. I was confused at the moment of what was going on. Hope you accept my apology and good luck with the rest of yalls season.”

Real genuine apology note. The hash tag should have been #SorryForBlindsidePunchingYouTwiceBro

This wasn’t Bowden’s first violent incident. He was suspended from the team previously after being arrested for criminal possession of a loaded weapon and prohibited use of a firearm. He allegedly “fired several shots into the air” last April to lead to the arrest.
