Eric Maynor hits circus shot (VIDEO)

The three-quarter-court heave is a staple of playgrounds and high school gym classes.

Eric Maynor brought it to the NBA.

The Oklahoma City Thunder backup point guard caught an inbound pass with 1.7 seconds left in the third quarter Thursday against the San Antonio Spurs. He took a quick dribble, cocked his right elbow and flung the ball toward the hoop. Nothing but net.

The shot tied it at 66 for the Thunder. They ended up losing 86-84 as Tony Parker’s regular-length jumper beat the buzzer in the fourth. But hey, this shot came awfully close to being the difference.

Maynor, 25, missed most of last season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. He replaces Derek Fisher as the Thunder’s backup point guard this year.
