Mayweather wins $275K bet on Spurs-Lakers

Danny Green became Floyd Mayweather’s best friend Tuesday night.
Green drained a go-ahead, eventual game-winning 3-pointer with 9.3 seconds left to help the Spurs narrowly defeat the Los Angeles Lakers, who await new coach Mike D’Antoni to join them on the sidelines.
While Green helped most Spurs fans win the small feat of happiness, the 6-6 guard helped Money Mayweather win a lot more.
A lot more…as in $275,000.
Mayweather, who was in attendance at Staples Center, might have been the only non-Spurs fan jumping for joy. It surely wasn’t his biggest bet ever placed, but it was still a huge win. And this was actually a smart bet, too. The Spurs are 7-1 and the Lakers are obviously going through a coaching change after firing Mike Brown. That’s a much safer call than when Mayweather most famously lost $3 million by betting on Michigan against Alabama. The Wolverines lost that game 44-14, but Mayweather lost a lot more.
After the game, Mayweather, was completely humble about it.
Twitter’s most famous sports gambler let his 3,462,700-plus followers know he cashed in when Green played the role of hero with a boastful tweet.
“Kobe Bryant is a living legend but I bet $275k on Spurs and Danny Green got me that green,” he tweeted.
Don’t worry, people, it was legit. Mayweather followed by posting the picture of the receipt.
Since that 3-pointer was completely unexpected and saved Mayweather big time, you’d think the famous boxer could share some of the dough with Green, right?

After the game, Green described his money shot.
“(Popovich) drew up a play and said, ‘If you’re open, catch it and shoot it,’” Green said. “When he draws plays for the young guys like myself, it’s very rare and very surprising. You don’t expect it. It’s only my third year here, so for him to draw up a play for me, there was a lot of pressure on me.
