Former WNBA star Chamique Holdsclaw was expected to be released from jail on Friday following her arrest Thursday as a result of a violent dispute with her ex-girlfriend.
Holdsclaw appeared before a judge on Friday morning at the Fulton County Jail and was ordered to wear an ankle monitor and stay away from Jennifer Lacy as conditions for her release. She has a $100,000 bond.
Holdsclaw, 35, was still in custody early Friday afternoon while her paperwork was being processed. Tracy Flanagan, spokeswoman for the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, said Holdsclaw likely would not be released before 6 p.m.
The six-time WNBA all-star turned herself in on Thursday after a warrant was issued for her arrest on charges of aggravated assault, criminal damage to property and reckless conduct.
According to the incident report, Holdsclaw on Tuesday fired a gun in Lacy’s vehicle while she was in it.
Lacy, 29, reported to Atlanta police that she smelled gasoline in her 2010 Range Rover after she gave Holdsclaw the keys to put some items in it. Holdsclaw followed Lacy and smashed the vehicle with a baseball bat when Lacy arrived at a friend’s house, the report states.
The bat broke out the window on the driver’s side and the rear passenger window on the same side. According to the report, Holdsclaw stuck a pistol in the rear driver’s side door and fired it across the SUV.
Lacy was still in the driver’s seat when Holdsclaw fired the gun, said Atlanta police spokesman Officer John Chafee on Thursday. She was not injured.
