ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Last season, the best — and most common — praise Michigan’s rookie point guard Trey Burke received was that he didn’t play like a freshman.

He was calm, cool and collected in high-pressure situations, never afraid to take the last shot with the game on the line. It was no surprise, then, that once Burke announced that he would return for his sophomore season, the Wolverines began receiving a ton of preseason hype.

Burke was named a preseason All-American by the Associated Press, and Michigan started the season in the top five of both the AP and USA TODAY Sports coaches polls.

Surrounded by a cast of highly touted and extremely talented freshmen, Burke has led Michigan to a sparkling 14-0 record.

As a sophomore, Burke is averaging 18.1 points and 7.2 assists per game, but more importantly, he’s improving as a leader on a daily basis.

The Columbus, Ohio, native spoke with USA TODAY Sports about his leadership, the freshmen and a whole host of off-court topics.

On my iPod

“I listen to a lot of Tupac and Biggie Smalls. Old school songs. Rick Ross. I listen to a guy ASAP Rocky. I like different kinds of music. I always have. It motivates me before games. … A Tupac playlist or a Meek Mill playlist. It varies.”

Xbox or playstation?

“Xbox. No question. … I used to play Playstation, but I’ve been an Xbox guy for two years.”

DVD I can’t live without

“There’s a DVD called “The Secret.” It’s like visualization and meditation, certain methods I use before games, visualizing the games before they happen.”

Favorite hobbies

“I love playing video games. I love listening to music. Just surfing the web. Facebook, Twitter, keeping in touch with people from home.”

Favorite place to play that’s not Crisler Center
