David Aldridge, please understand this: Gregg Popovich is not happy. It’s not that he’s unhappy. It’s that he’s not happy because there are things more important to consider than happiness.

David Aldridge, you of TNT’s NBA sideline interviews and many a great story for NBA.com, please understand that Gregg Popovich doesn’t think it’s appropriate to be happy during San Antonio Spurs games. There’s coaching to be done. There’s winning to be done.

Basketball is not for happiness.

In other words, Popovich had another one of his awesome sideline interviews before the fourth quarter of Thursday’s Spurs-Oklahoma City Thunder game. These things are so common SB Nation put together a best-of list.

“Happy? Happy? Happy’s not a word we think about in the game,” Popovich explained to Aldridge. “Think of something different. I don’t know how to judge ‘happy.’ We’re in the middle of a contest. Nobody’s happy.”
