Grinnell player sets DIII record with 89 pts

Griffin Lentsch, a junior for Grinnell College in Iowa, set the all-time Division III single-game scoring record with 89 points in a 145-97 win over Principia College Saturday.Lentsch was 27 of 55 from the field, hit 15 of 33 from the 3-point line and knocked down 20 of 22 free throws to finish with the third-highest single-game point total in NCAA history. His 15 made 3-pointers were also the ninth-best total in NCAA history.Clarence Francis (112) of Rio Grande and Frank Selvy (110) of Furman, both posted in 1954, are the two highest single-game scoring efforts in NCAA history.
