Grizz Look to Take Advantage of Schedule
Since Feb. 1, the Griz have faced nine losing teams in 13 outings. Their next opponent, Portland, represents the second of five straight contests against a sub-.500 squad, when the Trail Blazers visit FedExForum Wednesday night.
The Griz won all five of those matchups, and don’t plan on letting their guard down for this stretch.
“It’s definitely important to take care of these games. When you lose games like that it puts you a tough situation toward the end of the (regular) season,” veteran forward Tayshaun Prince said. “You want to take care of those wins. We’ve been playing some great basketball of late, even though we haven’t been playing the teams with great records yet. But this is helping us build some kind of momentum for when we do play those (good) teams.”
Contending NBA teams beat hapless opposition, and no squads know that more than three of the four ranked ahead of the Griz in the NBA’s overall standings. Oklahoma City has just three losses to losing teams this season. San Antonio and Miami have four. The Los Angeles Clippers own eight losses against sub-.500 teams but negated that with a league-high 18-game winning streak.
