Grizzlies Struggling to Win Close Games

In two meetings with the Phoenix Suns this season, the Grizzlies have gutted out an overtime victory and suffered a gut-wrenching loss in the final 0.5 seconds.

The last thing the Griz need to start a three-game trip is the prospect of a close game. Their chances don’t bode well if the up-and-down Griz find themselves in another nip-and-tuck affair Sunday night with the Suns.

Coming off an 86-84 home loss to the Portland Trail Blazers last Friday, Memphis is 0-6 in games decided by five points or fewer this season.

“It is an issue,” Griz point guard Mike Conley said. “We have got to get better at it. We have to find a way to get four or five plays that we know that all five guys know so we can execute down the stretch. You have one or two guys not knowing the plays and are out of position. So anything can happen. As you can see, it’s not looking good.”
