Hickson re-signs with Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers re-signed free agent power forward J.J. Hickson to a one-year deal worth up to $4 million.

Hickson was claimed off waivers from the Kings in March and averaged 15.1 points and 8.3 rebounds in 19 games.

Hickson was thought to be expendable when the Blazers extended a lucrative offer sheet to restricted free agent Roy Hibbert and drafted Meyers Leonard in the first round of the 2012 draft.

But Hibbert’s offer was never officially executed because he received the same deal — four years, $58 million — to stay with the Pacers.
