Hornets Owner Applauded by Players, Fans
(New Hornets owner) Benson attended the Hornets’ game on Sunday night against the Memphis Grizzlies at the Arena with his wife, Gayle.
As he walked to his courtside seat, Benson heard cheers. He received a standing ovation when he was introduced between the first and second quarters. Benson, who wasn’t made available for comment, appeared engaged throughout the game. At one point in the first quarter Benson pumped his fist when shooting guard Xavier Henry scored.
Before the game Benson addressed the team and said he loves to win, which drew applause from the players.
“He told us he didn’t see anything else but winning,” forward Jason Smith said. “He just wanted to introduce himself and his staff and say hello to all of us.”
