Hornets F Smith suspended for two games

New Orleans Hornets forward Jason Smith has been suspended two games without pay for his hard foul on Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin on Thursday.NBA executive Stu Jackson announced the suspension Friday and said Smith’s foul involved “excessive contact with the upper body.”Griffin was not injured on the play and Smith was called for a flagrant 2 foul and ejected in the fourth quarter.Smith is averaging 8.7 points and 4.2 rebounds in 24 appearances for the Hornets this season. He will miss the team’s upcoming games against San Antonio on Saturday and Monday night’s rematch with the Clippers.
