The New Orleans Hornets hosted likely No. 1 overall pick Anthony Davis on Tuesday, but the Kentucky freshman didn’t work out during his visit, general manager Dell Demps said.

“It’s a great city,” Davis said Tuesday. “If I was drafted here, it would be awesome.”

Demps said Davis, the Player of the Year for national champion Kentucky last season, was scheduled to dine with Hornets owner Tom Benson and members of management. The Wildcats’ title run ended in New Orleans in April, with a victory over Kansas.

Demps has seen Davis play in person at least five or six times, he said.

The Hornets could use the 6-11, 220-pound power forward, but they could use talent at almost every position.

Demps didn’t indicate Davis is a favorite for the top pick, but the Hornets did have him pose in uniform — No. 23 — for pictures.
