How should NBA discipline floppers?

You don’t invoke David Stern‘s ire and expect to get away with it.

During the NBA playoffs, the NBA commissioner talked about cracking down on players who flop in hoping to get the referee’s to call a foul.

“We just want to put a stake in the ground that says this is not something that we want to be part of our game,” Stern said in June.

On Thursday, league spokesman Tim Frank said the NBA is finalizing procedures to deal with the problem.

It is expected that rather than have a referee call it during a game the penalties will be assessed later after the league has studied film. A fine is expected to be levied against a guilty player.
