Howard and Van Gundy are partners

Stan Van Gundy and Dwight Howard obviously don’t hold grudges.
The ex-Magic coach and his former superstar are teaming up again. This time it is for the benefit of the public school system.
Orlando Sentinel columnist Mike Bianchi writes that the two now political allies. Van Gundy is the chairman of the Citizens for Preservation of Property Values. The Seminole County group is trying to preserve a school system that had $73 million in budget cuts in the past five years.
Howard is expected to become a donor to the group.
“Dwight has pledged his support,” Van Gundy told Bianchi. “He’s a resident of Seminole County, and he’s keeping his house here. I think his history will show that he’s had great concern for kids in the Central Florida Community. With him still living here, we asked him to help and he didn’t hesitate.”
Politics has always made for strange bedfellows but it turns out that Van Gundy and Howard are good buds.
“Whatever our disagreements happened to be, they were on the professional level — they were about basketball and our jobs. Personally, we never had a problem. We liked each other. I have great admiration for the things Dwight did in the community and for the way he involved himself with kids. I really do want the best for him, and I think that’s mutual.
