Howard Refuses to Explain Past Decisions

Perhaps the biggest mystery that remains is why, on March 15, (Dwight) Howard waived the early-termination clause in his contract that would have allowed him to become a free agent three and a half months later. Had he not waived that clause, he would’ve been able to sign a deal with the Brooklyn Nets, the team that had been his preferred destination.

Howard would not discuss that decision when asked about it by the Orlando Sentinel.

“Listen,” he said, “whatever happened is already over with. It’s already over with. There’s no other stories you can write about it. There’s no other things you can say about it. It happened. I did what I did. I learned whatever I needed to learn throughout the situation. Let it go.”
