Howard standing behind trade request
Despite the Orlando Magic informing teams that they intend to keep Dwight Howard, the All-Star center is standing behind his trade demand.
Howard said Thursday that he has not withdrawn his request to be traded. He said he talked with Magic general manager Otis Smith about the situation, but did not reveal details about the conversation.
Howard, set to be a free agent at season’s end, has made it known that he would prefer a trade to Dallas, New Jersey or the Los Angeles Lakers.
There were rumors this week of a blockbuster deal involving Portland that would have sent Howard to the Nets.
Howard is considered one of the best big men in the game today. The 26-year-old averaged 22.9 points and 14.1 rebounds last season.
