Oklahoma City Thunder center Serge Ibaka has signed with Real Madrid and will play two months for the Spanish League contender, the team announced Tuesday.

Ibaka’s stay with the team will continue as long as the NBA lockout remains in effect. He replaceds Novica Velickovic and joins a roster that includes Dallas Mavericks swingman Rudy Fernandez.

Ibaka spent part of his summer playing for Spain and helping the nation retain its title at Eurobasket 2011 and clinch a berth in the 2012 Olympics. He is a native of the Republic of Congo but played in Spain for three years before joining the NBA and became a naturalized Spanish citizen.

Ibaka averaged 9.9 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.4 blocks last season, helping the Thunder reach the Western Conference finals.
