Illinois basketball coach Bruce Weber is feeling the heat of his seat in Champaign after the school’s athletic director would not give him a vote of confidence.Illinois athletic director Mike Thomas said that Weber’s future with the program would be assessed at the end of the season. Thomas spent an hour taking phone calls on a local sports talk radio show, most of which were concerned about Weber’s job security after the Fighting Illini dropped back-to-back games and five of their last six outings.”Yes, obviously, that’s something people are paying attention to right now,” Thomas said. “As I’ve always said, I will assess the situation at the end of the season no different than I do with the other 18 sports, no different than I did for the football program.”I need to look at the total body of work and all of the things that come into play as far as making those decisions. Because those are important decisions and they affect a lot of people. I’ll tell you this: No one wants to win more than I do. I’m here to win championships.”Illinois is 16-8 but just 5-6 in Big Ten play. The Fighting Illini visit the Michigan Wolverines Sunday.
