NORMAL, Ill. (AP) — Police in Normal say Illinois State University basketball player Geoffrey Allen has been arrested on a preliminary charge of selling marijuana.

Normal Police Chief Rick Bleichner says Allen was arrested Wednesday night and released later after posting about $3,000 bond. Allen’s warrant lists charges of criminal conspiracy-marijuana and manufacture/delivery of 30 to 500 grams of marijuana.

The McLean County Circuit Clerk’s office says Allen hasn’t entered a plea and doesn’t yet have an attorney.

Earlier Wednesday, Illinois State announced Allen is indefinitely suspended from the team for an unspecified team rules violation. Coach Dan Muller said only that he’s “very disappointed in Allen.”

Allen joined the team last summer as a transfer from Eastern Washington. He’s played in six games and averaged 3.5 points for the Redbirds (6-3).
