Indiana recruit will go to prep school instead

Ron Patterson, a 6-3 guard from Indianapolis who signed with Indiana but was not admitted to the school for the fall semester, will instead attend BrewsterAcademy (Wolfeboro, N.H.), according to the Indianapolis Star.
Patterson had gained admittance to Indiana University through the school’s Faculty Sponsorship Program this summer but found out last week he would not be admitted to the school for the fall term. He was eligible academically by NCAA standards but not the school’s. His departure also got the Hoosiers under the scholarship limit of 13 players as they had signed 14 players.
Patterson averaged 18.5 points a game last season at Broad Ripple. He chose Brewster over other colleges, such as Purdue and Xavier, that showed an interest in signing him.
