Alert the media. Isiah Thomas had a business meeting with the owner of the New York Knicks.

The New York Post reports that James Dolan and Thomas met Friday at the Mandarin Hotel in New York.

Writes Marc Berman:

A band of security men surrounded the two men who were both dressed in business suits in a quiet corner of the lobby. Thomas has lobbied to return to the organization since he was fired as the Florida International basketball coach last spring. The meeting took place two days after the resignation of MSG sports president Scott Oâ??Neil, who, according to a source, helped convince Dolan rehiring Thomas wasnâ??t a good move for the Knicks brand

.

Thomas was the team president and coach from 2003-2008.

Rumors will abound about Thomas since he and Dolan have remained close and the team is looking for a president and an assistant coach. To add some fuel, Thomas played at Indiana with Knicks coach Mike Woods and GM Glen Grunwald.
