Floppers beware: The NBA is looking for you.

The NBA released Monday the first warnings issued under the unsportsmanlike “flopping” rule being enforced this season. Or, as the NBA terms it, committing “a physical act that was a flop.”

First up: Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donald Sloan, in the fourth quarter of Friday’s loss to the Chicago Bulls, tumbling wildly to the court a few feet from contact after a pick set vs. him. Also Friday, Minnesota Timberwolves guard J.J. Barea was caught in the fourth quarter of the victory vs. Sacramento, throwing his upper body backward after contact while defending the Kings’ Jimmer Fredette

Both players, for first-time flops, get a warning. Next time it’s a $5,000 fine, on up to $30,000 for a fifth violation. After that, the player is subject to discipline decided by the NBA.
