J.J. Redick Could be On The Move
The run for J.J. Redick and the Orlando Magic may be coming to a close.
Despite repeated assurances that he may not be traded, that has not stopped Orlando from testing J.J.’s value and the inevitability of a team meeting Orlando’s asking price, an unprotected first-round pick in the top of the draft, seems fairly high although you’d be surprised how many teams view a top-20 draft pick as a steep price to rent Redick for what could be the final 20-plus games of the season.
League sources say that if Redick is traded from Orlando, it’s hard to imagine that he won’t go shopping as an unrestricted free agent, making it even more risky to give up what could be a reasonable future player.
The Magic have spoken to a number of teams about J.J., so seeing a deal materialize or the Magic lowering their price before Thursday’s deadline isn’t out of the question and seems more likely than not.
