The NBA announced its 2013 All-Star Game reserves Thursday evening.

Six of the 14 players were first-time selections, including high-scoring James Harden of the Houston Rockets and Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Five of those six were in the Eastern Conference, as the West features a much more experienced team led by 14-time All-Star Tim Duncan of the San Antonio Spurs.

While there weren’t any major surprises, the Brooklyn Nets have no representatives despite the third-best record in the East. The sixth-place Denver Nuggets are the best team in the Western Conference without an All-Star.

The Golden State Warriors have been one of the big surprises of the first half, and they were rewarded with their first All-Star selection since Latrell Sprewell in 1997. Warriors forward David Lee will play in his second All-Star Game, having made the 2010 East team with the New York Knicks.

Harden is the lone All-Star for Houston, which will host the game Feb. 17 at 8 p.m. ET. It will be broadcast on TNT.

The starters were announced last week. Rajon Rondo and Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics; LeBron James and Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat; and Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks will start for the East. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers; Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard of the Los Angeles Lakers; and Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder will start for the West.

Heat big man Chris Bosh made the team as a reserve, making Miami the only team with three All-Stars.

Here are the reserves (in alphabetical order; statistics through Wednesday’s games):

  • All-Star selections: eight (last in 2012)
  • Season stats: 17.3 points and 7.2 rebounds a game, 54.3% shooting
  • Why he made it: Bosh is the most skilled big man in the East, and he is having his most efficient season since joining the Heat.
  • New York Knicks center Tyson Chandler

  • All-Star selections: first
  • Season stats: 12.2 points and 11.0 rebounds a game, 67.4% shooting
