Joe Dumars: Pistons Not Done Upgrading
Coming off a 29-53 season, Pistons president Joe Dumars had a challenging to-do list this offseason.
He took a big step in those efforts, signing free agent Josh Smith to a four-year contract, reportedly worth $54 million.
“We’re extremely pleased to have come to a deal with Josh to have him here for the next four years — and hopefully beyond that.”
“(We have) a lot more to do,” he said. “We don’t pretend to stand here and feel like we’ve made this move and that’s the answer. You know it’s a long road, and you need multiple talented pieces. We just went out and got one big talented piece, but by no means are we even remotely proclaiming championship contenders — we just feel like we’ve upgraded our talent.”
