Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari addressed the media at Kentucky basketball media day on Thursday. Among the topics was 6-foot-9 freshman Nerlens Noel.

Noel has yet to be cleared by the NCAA, but Calipari said that Noel will practice “and if we played tomorrow, he would play.”

Calipari said he may play Noel and 7-foot freshman Willy Cauley-Stein at the same time in a twin towers lineup.

“I’m gonna mess around,” he said.

But he added that you can’t compare Noel to Anthony Davis, who was the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft after leading UK in blocked shots last season.

“I worry about it,” Calipari said of the comparisons. “Because he’s not Anthony Davis. Anthony was a once-in-10-years.”
