Former top-10 NBA draft pick Jonny Flynn signed with the Melbourne Tigers of Australia’s National Basketball League.

The 23-year-old guard, drafted sixth overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2009, was waived by the Detroit Pistons last month.

The New Zealand Herald reports Flynn is expected to train with his teammates as early as Tuesday and could play Friday night against Adelaide 36ers.

Flynn played limited minutes in preseason last month for the Pistons. He scored five points in 12 minutes against the Toronto Raptors on Oct. 12 but was otherwise held scoreless in the remaining postseason action he had.

Flynn averaged 13.5 points per game in 81 starts in 2009-10 with the T’wolves in his rookie season but has faltered since, averaging 5.0 points in 82 games the past two seasons.
