Jose Calderon Willing to Adjust His Game
The Dallas Mavericks don’t have a true center on their roster for next season. Jose Calderon says if that’s where Rick Carlisle wants him to play, then that’s where he’ll be.
The Spaniard figures to be the primary point guard in Dallas after signing a four-year contract as a free agent this offseason following his departure from Detroit. But he’ll be coming off a summer when he’s had a different look, used by his national team as a shooting guard, mostly in tandem with Ricky Rubio of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
“It’s not easy when you’ve played all the time at the 1 position,” Calderon said. “But it’s about the team. This is what my team needs right now. I want to win. Today, I was the scorer. Maybe the next day we don’t need me scoring. I just play basketball and try to do the best for the team.
