Josh Smith has told the Hawks that he isn’t going to sign an extension during the season. He’d rather wait to become a free agent, when he can get a five-year deal. In terms of the career longevity, Del Negro may have been better off working his way up the ranks and waiting for the right opportunity. Also, is this the end of Del Negro as a head coach for the foreseeable future? I always questioned why he became a head coach so quickly. Does the Clippers coaching job opening up change Stan Van Gundy or Phil Jackson's stance on coaching next year? I'm sure they think about it
