Kansas recognized for top APR scores
The Kansas Jayhawks didn’t celebrate a national championship in April, but the runner-up to Kentucky was honored for classroom performance by the NCAA on Thursday.
Kansas was one of nine men’s NCAA Tournament teams to earn the recognition award for Academic Progress Rates (APR) measured in the top 10 percent in their sport — a total of 954 teams overall were honored — for 2010-11, the most recent scoring period available.
Boise State’s football program was in that sports top 10 percent.
Team-by-team scores were not published by the NCAA. Stanford’s women’s basketball team, a Final Four qualifier, and five national championship teams were among the best APR scorers.
