Kenneth Faried has emerged as one of the NBA’s best up-and-coming frontcourt players with the Denver Nuggets. The 23-year-old entered the league with a reputation for being an incredible athlete and exceptional rebounder, but he has continued his development and become one of the Nuggets’ most consistent contributors.

This season, Faried is averaging 12.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, one block and one steal in 29.4 minutes for Denver. Nuggets head coach Goerge Karl has praised Faried and described the big man as a star in the making.

Many casual fans may not be familiar with Faried, but that’s likely to change if he can put on a show in Saturday’s dunk contest. While Faried joked that he’ll try “a lay-up here or there,” he did reveal some of the dunks in his repertoire.

“Maybe a two-hand power dunk,” Faried said. “Behind-the-back dunk like turning 180, stuff like that.”

Faried is also a fan of using props in the dunk contest. While he wouldn’t reveal any specifics, he did make the case for using props.

“I like the props because it does show how creative you are to think of certain things,” Faried said. “Sometimes it makes your dunk look better. Let’s say I go down and do a windmill. Then somebody who has props involved goes down and does a windmill. Which dunk are you going to like more?”
