Faried out rest of regular season

Nothing has come easy in April for the Denver Nuggets.
Starting power forward Kenneth Faried will miss the rest of the regular season with a sprained ankle, the team announced Monday. He joins an injury list already featuring No. 2 scorer Danilo Gallinari, who tore a knee ligament and won’t play until next season.
Faried may be back in time for the playoffs, but the team lists him as day to day.
The high-energy rebounder had his ankle bend the wrong way on a drive early in Sunday’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers. He fell to the court and needed help to get into the trainer’s room.
Faried has emerged in his second NBA season, averaging 11.5 points and 9.2 rebounds a game. He may have made his biggest impact over All-Star weekend, when he dominated the Rising Stars Challenge and participated in the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest. He arguably is the Nuggets’ most important player because of the injury to Gallinari, which left them short on forwards.
