Kentucky’s Davis named AP Player of Year
Kentucky freshman Anthony Davis has been named the Associated Press Player of the Year.
The 6-foot-10 Davis received 43 votes from the 65-member panel. The first Kentucky player to win the award, he joins Kevin Durant as the only freshmen to be honored.
Davis averaged 14.3 points, 10.0 rebounds and 4.6 blocks for the Wildcats, who will play intrastate rival Louisville in the Final Four on Saturday.
Thomas Robinson, who led Kansas to the Final Four, finished second in the voting.
