The Sacramento Kings have hired former players Keith Smart and Bobby Jackson as assistant coaches on Paul Westphal’s staff.

Smart, a standout at Indiana University, coached the Golden State Warriors last season but was not retained after the team went 36-46 in his lone year. He had replaced the league’s all-time career wins leader Don Nelson.

Jackson played 12 seasons in the NBA and spent the past two years as the Kings’ basketball operations special assistant.

The Kings went 24-58 last season, missing the playoffs for the fifth consecutive year.
