Kings GM: We’re Still Looking at Extensions
Taking care of DeMarcus Cousins with a contract extension was an easy decision for Kings management.
But there remain more decisions on deals for three Kings.
The deadline for first-round picks from the 2010 draft class to receive contract extensions is Oct. 31, and the Kings still have two players eligible for new deals, Greivis Vasquez and Patrick Patterson.
The team also has to decide whether to pick up the option on Jimmer Fredette’s contract for the 2014-15 season.
Vasquez and Patterson are eligible for contract extensions that would begin with the 2014-15 season and could sign for as many as five years.
The Kings could opt not to sign either player and make them qualifying offers after the season and make them restricted free agents.
“We’re still looking at things and evaluating before making a decision,” said general manager Pete D’Alessandro. “… I think there’s some spirited conversations going on about all the guys near the deadline.”
