The Sacramento Kings sent rookie forward Thomas Robinson, veteran small forward Francisco Garcia, and second-year forward Tyler Honeycutt to the Houston Rockets in exchange for veteran point guard Toney Douglas, third-year forward Cole Aldrich, forward Patrick Patterson and $1 million on Wednesday, according to a person with knowledge of the deal.

The person spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity because the trade had not been made public.

Robinson was the fifth pick out of Kansas in last June’s draft, though he struggled to see significant playing time with the struggling Kings because of veterans like Jason Thompson and Chuck Hayes. He made headlines before the draft by deeming himself the more deserving No. 1 pick than Kentucky’s Anthony Davis (who went to New Orleans) and could develop nicely in Houston.

In acquiring Patterson, the Kings partner their franchise centerpiece, third-year center DeMarcus Cousins, with his good friend and Kentucky teammate. Patterson is having a breakout season, averaging 11.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 25.9 minutes per game.
