(Baron) Davis had a bounce in his step, making all three shots and scoring seven points in seven minutes without committing a turnover. But when Collison drove past him early in the second quarter, Davis felt “a pinch” in his right hamstring. He was due to be replaced by Lin anyway and when Davis returned to the bench he immediately headed toward the locker room and didn’t return.

Afterward, (coach Mike) Woodson announced that Davis would not be making the trip to Indiana for Saturday night’s game; Davis, who missed the first two months with a back injury, is listed as day-to-day.

“It’s very frustrating,” Davis said. “We’re in a groove. I was in a groove … finally. I had my legs right. But this is just a minor setback. I should be OK in a couple of days.”
